If you are not one of the fortunate event winners, or simply did not get around to taking part in any of them, then you can still enter the tournament by paying the $25,000 buy-in.

The details for these tournaments!
There is a “buy-in” fee, which is usually around $5,000 to $10,000 which must be made before you can play. Alternatively, you could take part in a “satellite” event, where the entry fees are a lot lower and you stand a chance of winning a “buy-in” to the WPT tournaments.

The winnings are devided up amongst the top players – usually the top 20 to 30 players will share the loot. The winner would receive between 35 to 40% of the prize pool, and the rest would be devided up amongst the runners up. The size of the prize pool would depend on how many players take part in the tournament.

After everybody has registered, the table and seat numbers are randomly drawn and asigned to each player. Everybody starts with the same number of chips and play continues until the winner ends up with all the chips. The rounds are timed, so that events do not stretch over days and to ensure that things move faster, the “blinds”, or forced bets are increased as time starts running out.

As players are eliminated, tables are consolidated until there is only one table of 6 people left. This is then moved from the tournament room into the APT Arena, where the game continues in front of television cameras and a live audience.

Online poker tournaments differ in their structure since the preliminary rounds are played over the Internet, but ultimately the finalists face off in person at the WPT Final Table where the winner is crowned.

Qualify for the World Poker Tour event held at the Bellagio in Las Vegas December 12 to 16! An $18,500 seat in the tournament – and a spot in Team PokerRoom.com – could be yours for as little as $6. Three stages available!

For the chance to win a ticket to the Bellagio, play in one of the following tournaments:

Stage 1: $5+0.50 NL Texas Hold’em. One ticket to the stage 2 qualifier awarded to one in nine players. Starting stack 1,500, 12 minute blind levels. Played daily at 00:30 and 11:30 AM, as well as at 12:30, 1:30, 5:15, 6:15, 7:15, 8:15 and 10:45 PM ET.

PokerRoom is great for all walks of life. Not only do they offer the poker room games like Texas hold’em, Omaha etc. they also offer other card game variations like; Black jack, Baccarat, Let it Ride and Chinese Poker as well as a number of slots for people wanting to change the pace or take a “time out”.

Their support is exceptional. I asked then what the 5/10 means when you look at the games in the lobby (obviously the number of players that there are) and the personal answer came back within 2 minutes explaining it to me in a very friendly manner. Great!

Besides the great downloadable software, they have the java version on offer for those that do not want to install anything onto their computers. The online version is a lot better in my humble opinion. The graphics are crisper and the game runs a lot smoother than in the download version.

A great variation they offer is the lite version. This allows people with slower connections also to play at the Poker Room online.

Another feature is the “player notes”. Here you can right-click on a player and make notes of him/her for you to view at a later stage. This is great for people like me who forget their own names if it was not said often enough. Great to build up an online friendship with other poker players and exchange strategies or ideas.

I enjoyed the time at Poker Room and would recommend this place to anybody.
